CA DMV Office Services
In California, you can visit Department of Motor Vehicles offices to take care of most of your driver's license and vehicle related needs, including (but not limited to):
- Driver's licenses and permits for:
- State ID cards.
- Vehicle registration.
- Vehicle titling.
Avoid the Lines—Go Online
Before heading out to your local DMV office branch, you might consider:
- Making an appointment—this allows you to jump the line and get in and out of the office much faster.
- Using the online services provided by the CA DMV, saving you a trip to the office altogether.
Other DMV-Related Services
While knowledge and skills tests for driver's licenses are primarily administered at DMV offices, many of these offices are not equipped to administer tests for commercial driver's licenses.

California sets the standard for emissions testing, and most vehicles on CA roads must pass a smog inspection several times throughout the years they're registered in the state. You can have your car inspected at any DMV-approved STAR certified station.
