If you’re anything like the average American, it’s feasible that your daily schedule consists of racing to and from your 9-to-5 job, picking up the kids from school, and making a run to the grocery store where you know you’ll have to compete with other local busy bees.

When your days are mapped out like this, tasks like going to the DMV to renew your registration can feel like an impossibly tight squeeze.

But what if you could pick up a gallon of milk and renew your car registration all in the same trip?

While this luxuriously convenient task might seem like it’s too good to be true, it’s already a reality for millions of Californians thanks to a freestanding touchscreen kiosk called DMV Now.

What Can I Do Using DMV Now?

With instructions available in both English and Spanish, these blue and gold timesaving machines swiftly guide you through the registration renewal process for any number of vehicles, including:

  • Automobiles
  • Pickups
  • Motorcycles
  • Coach and park model trailers
  • Commercial vehicles that do not pay Commercial Vehicle Registration Act (CVRA) fees

Even those planning to file for a planned non-operation (PNO) status get to benefit from the convenience of this grocery store/DMV twosome.

What Do I Need?

The only thing that DMV Now will need from you is the renewal notice that the DMV sends to you in the mail each year, just make sure to double check for the Renewal Identification Number (RIN) at the top left.

If you don’t have this, don’t panic—your current registration card will work just fine.

Where Can I Find DMV Now?

With over 100 DMV Now kiosks planted along California’s northern and southern regions, you can find these handy registration-renewing robots at a variety of locations, including select field offices and retail stores.

Check out the DMV Now Locator for a map of all current locations near you.

How Can I Pay?

DMV Now continues to be convenient as far as fees go. You can pay for your transaction with cash, check, or a credit or debit card.

What If I Need Help?

One man’s technological advancement can be another man’s headache. As user-friendly as these kiosks are designed to be, don’t hesitate to talk to someone if you run into trouble.

DMV Now’s Customer Care Center is reachable by phone at (866) 955-5258 and ready to help you from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. PST Monday through Saturday.
