Ever wonder what it's like to work for the organization that handles driver licenses and state ID cards and the registration and titling of vehicles throughout Wyoming?

Open positions within the Driver Services Program are highly coveted due to the employment being under the umbrella of the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT). Of course, this means a jobseeker is ultimately landing a job with the State since WYDOT is a government wing. So, you can bet there is going to be plenty of competition for each position. Not only do State jobs offer exceptional stability, but working in the public sector―for all of its perceived stresses―can be quite rewarding.

Applying

Conveniently, you can view both WYDOT-specific job posts throughout the state, including those available with the Driver Services Program, as well as all the careers and job options with the entire state.

Once you peruse the employment catalog and find something of interest or a position that matches your qualifications, you can fill out and submit and application online. There are also options to download and print out application forms to send in by mail to the following address.

  • State of Wyoming
  • A&I Human Resources Division
  • Emerson Building
  • 2001 Capitol Ave.
  • Cheyenne, WY 82002-0060

Regardless of the temptation presented by modern technology, do not send in a completed downloadable application via e-mail. It will be automatically sent to the recycle bin and your efforts will be for naught.

You can find a comprehensive overview of compensation information online.

The Process

The State Human Resource Division scrutinizes each application to ensure that the candidate's qualifications meet with those specified on the job listing. Many divisions also require a prospective new hire to take a test related to the job.

If the applicant successfully passes the exam, then his or her name is entered onto a register and sent to the actual hiring division. Interviews are administered at that time.

Applications from qualified candidates that are not offered the position remain on file for a year and are matched with other potential positions.
