Driver Handbook
This fully narrated supplemental drivers ed program will help will provide first-time drivers a comprehensive understanding of rules of the road, state laws, driving techniques and much more. Although this course does not satisfy your West Virginia drivers education requirements, this course is a great way for a first-time driver to get prepared for their upcoming learner's permit test.
This course includes six hours of full driver ed training giving the student a full multimedia learning experience. The student will have access to eight of the premier driver education videos and, finally, the student will test his or her knowledge with three permit practice tests. Once completed, the student will be ready to pass his or her test with flying colors.
Driver Licensing Handbook
If you're new to driving, or new to the road rules in West Virginia, you'd be wise to read the Driver Licensing Handbook by the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles. It's an easy way for new drivers to learn the rules of the road and a good reference for experienced drivers to have.
You will need the free Adobe Reader to download and read the handbook, which is in PDF format.
In the Driver Licensing Handbook you can find information about eligibility for a driver's license and the steps you need to take in order to get one, fees, examination procedures and requirements, the point system, traffic laws and rules of the road, vehicle checks, how to react to emergency situations, and more.
For Spanish speakers, the DMV offers a version in Spanish. If you'd rather have a hard copy, you can pick one up at your local West Virginia DMV office.
