Paying Your Traffic Ticket

Wisconsin does not offer a lot of options to settle a traffic ticket. Basically, if you are ticketed, you may either pay the fine or you may go to court, depending on the ticket and how you wish to handle it.
Traffic School
Traffic school is not offered to keep points off of your driving records; however, if your driving record reaches a certain number of points, just short of the minimum number require for a suspension, you will be offered an opportunity to attend traffic school to reduce the number of points on your driving record. A warning letter will be mailed to you along with the instruction for attending a traffic school to reduce the points.
Paying the Fine
If you have received a traffic ticket and simply wish to pay the fine, you may do so by sending a check or money order for the amount of the bond (the fine) to the address that is printed on the ticket. Be sure to include your driver's license number and the citation number on the check or money order.
Going to Court
The court date is the date indicated on the citation. If you are unable to attend court on the date noted on the ticket, call the court to let them know the reason why you cannot make the date indicated and discuss rescheduling options.
Missing Court
If you missed a court date and did not contact the courts in advance, a warrant will be issued for your arrest. In that case, you should contact the courts as soon as possible.
