Motorcycle Manual in Washington DC
While the District of Columbia's Department of Motor Vehicles does not publish a separate manual for motorcycle operators, the DMV's Automobile Driver and Motorcycle Operator's Study Guide contains traffic safety information and rules of the road for motorcycle operators as well as those driving cars.
If you want more motorcycle-specific road safety information, you can download a free brochure on motorcycle safety produced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in partnership with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
This free manual covers basic motorcycle safety, the special precautions necessary when operating a motorcycle, the causes of most crashes, and how you can prevent a crash.
It also contains tips on purchasing a bike that is the right size for your body, choosing the proper protective gear, the importance of basic courtesy, being alert and aware of the changing driving conditions, and most importantly, driving at safe speeds.
