SUPPLEMENTAL DRIVERS ED COURSE SPONSOR

This fully narrated supplemental drivers ed program will help will provide first-time drivers a comprehensive understanding of rules of the road, state laws, driving techniques and much more. Although this course does not satisfy your Vermont drivers education requirements, this course is a great way for a first-time driver to get prepared for their upcoming learner's permit test.

This course includes six hours of full driver ed training giving the student a full multimedia learning experience. The student will have access to eight of the premier driver education videos and, finally, the student will test his or her knowledge with three permit practice tests. Once completed, the student will be ready to pass his or her test with flying colors.

Sight

Unrestricted License

  • You must have 20/40 vision in at least one eye, with or without glasses or contacts.
  • Each eye must have 60 degrees of visual field; both eyes must have 60 degrees of visual field.

Restricted License

  • You must have a minimum of 20/40 vision in at least one eye.

Hearing

There are no restrictions against deaf or hearing impaired drivers.

To improve communication with police and emergency personnel, brightly colored "Deaf" and "Hard of Hearing - Speak Clearly" license stickers are available. If interested, contact Vermont's Secretary of State office at (802) 828-2148.

Seizures

If you harbor a medical condition that can ignite blackouts or loss of consciousness, you and a certified physician must complete a medical evaluation form. Mail it to:

  • Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Driver Improvement Section
  • 120 State Street
  • Montpelier, Vermont 05603-001

The DMV will then evaluate your situation before informing you whether or not you'll be allowed to apply for a Vermont driver's license. If you already have a license, it may place restrictions on your license, or require further updates or testing.

Aging Drivers

There currently are no restrictions on elderly drivers, nor any mandatory testing at a certain age.

Call Vermont's DMV for advice on how to proceed with reporting a driver by dialing (802) 828-2000.

Testing Accommodations for Drivers With Disabilities

Call any DMV office for information on testing accommodations.
