The Utah Driver Handbook, published by the Driver License Division of the Department of Public Safety, contains the rules that every driver should follow when driving a vehicle on Utah roads.
Subjects covered in the handbook include how to get a driver license; rules of the road; traffic signs, signals, and road markings; basic driving skills; how accidents may affect you; license revocation and suspension; driving under the influence of alcohol; the point system; driving records; registration, inspection, and equipment; RVs and large vehicles; driver license field offices; and defensive driving courses.
The handbook is available for download in PDF format. To access PDF documents, you'll need to download the free Adobe Reader software if it's not already installed on your computer.
The handbook is also available in Spanish (Manual de Conducir de Utah en Espanol).
Commercial Vehicle Driver Handbook
Utah's Driver License Division also publishes a handbook for drivers of commercial vehicles that covers an additional set of topics specific to driving these types of vehicles.
The Commercial Vehicle Driver Handbook provides detailed information about obtaining a commercial driver license (CDL), driving safely, transporting cargo safely, transporting passengers, air brakes, combination vehicles, tank vehicles, hazardous materials vehicles, and the tests that CDL applicants must pass to receive their commercial license.
This handbook should be studied in addition to the Utah Driver Handbook by anyone planning to drive a commercial vehicle.
