Registration Renewals

Texas makes it simple to renew your vehicle registration. You can renew in person at your county tax office, by mail, or in some counties online.
Renewing in Person
To register in person, just take your registration renewal, proof of insurance, and the registration fees (which vary by vehicle type and other criteria) down to the tax office and you'll receive your new registration certificate.
Renewing by Mail
To renew by mail, send in the renewal notice (be sure to retain your copy), a copy of your insurance card, and the registration fees. You'll need to include an additional $1 mail-in fee with the registration.
Mail your renewal request with the required documents to your county tax office.
Renewing Online
You can use the online registration renewal service, if it's available in your county (the service displays a list of participating counties so you can check).
No Renewal Notice?
If you do not receive a renewal notice, you are still required to renew by the deadline. You'll just need to provide your license plate number, your Vehicle Identification Number, or your registration receipt from the previous year.
