Dealer Forms

The State of Texas has posted a number of critical dealer forms (and their instructions) online so you can easily download them. To do so, you'll need Adobe's free Reader software.
Dealer License Application and Renewal Forms
New dealers must fill out forms depending on the type or types of vehicles they intend to sell and under what circumstances they intend to sell them. Different categories include in-transit dealer licenses, auction licenses, franchise dealer licenses, and independent dealer licenses.
All motor vehicle dealers in Texas also need a Motor Vehicle Sales Finance License. This license pertains to all aspects of motor vehicle financing.
Title and Registration Forms
Many of these forms may be of use to dealers as well as to private parties. These include mechanic's lien forms, various title and registration forms, transfer of junked vehicles to demolishers forms, fact sheets, odometer disclosure forms, and many others.
New Manual for Dealers
The Texas Department of Transportation has just issued, for the first time, a car dealer manual. This is not yet available online, but you may fill out a request form.
Dealer-specific Forms
Other dealer forms are available in bulk, for a fee, from commercial providers such as Burrell's Texas Car Dealer Forms. These include window inventory stickers, notices to co-signers, shop repair tickets, and more.
Department of Transportation Bulletins
Motor vehicle dealers in Texas may also want to monitor the documents sent to the county tax assessor-collectors, as these often include updated information on changes in titling and registration procedures that are of interest to dealers. These special information releases are arranged by year.
