Compare Insurance Rates in 3 Easy Steps

    1. Start Your Quote:

    Defensive Driving Course

South Dakota's National Safety Council sponsors a state-sanctioned traffic school called the Defensive Driving Course (DDC).

Participating in this course will not deduct points from your driving record, but it may reduce car insurance premiums.

For ticket dismissal information, contact your district court. For reduced insurance premiums, contact your insurance carrier.

This one-day class generally lasts eight hours and costs $85.

    Other Courses

    Mature Driver Programs

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) sponsors Driver Safety classes throughout the state. In addition to teaching you safe driving techniques, the class may also reduce your car insurance premiums.

For a schedule of South Dakota classes, contact the AARP.

    Driver Education

Teen drivers can expedite their licensing process by enrolling in the state's Driver Education Program, available at most high schools.
