Driver Handbook in South Carolina
South Carolina Driver's Manual
The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offers the Driver's Manual both at your local DMV and online using the free Adobe Reader.
The print version offered at the DMV can be obtained in both English and Spanish; the online version is only available in English.
NOTE: The DMV now charges $5 for the print version of the manual. The online version remains free.
Use the Manual as a Study Guide
The manual is a great source for every driver―especially those who are getting ready to apply for their license for the first time. It's also wise for the more experienced drivers to get a fresh copy every few years as a refresher course and to keep you updated with new driving laws.
Conveniently, the online version of the Driver License Manual is divided into seven chapters. The links below will give you access to each:
- Chapter 1: Introduction
- Chapter 2: General Information
- Chapter 3: Cars: The Road Test
- Chapter 4: Truck Information
- Chapter 5: Cycle Information
- Chapter 6: Signs, Signals and Markers
- Chapter 7: Finding Your Local DMV
