RV & Motorhome Registration in Rhode Island
Rhode Island requires all pick-up campers, RVs, tent trailers, and motor homes to register through the Division of Motor Vehicles. The process varies little from registering a car, except that the fees are based on the weight of your vacation vehicle.
To register your vehicle, you'll need the following:
- A completed Application for Registration and Title Certificate (Form TR-1). If you cannot download this file, you can pick up an application at any DMV office location.
- A signed Bill of Sale.
- The previous owner's title, if your vehicle was bought used.
- The gross vehicle weight.
- Enough money to pay sales tax, plate fees, and your registration fee.
Registration fees are based on your motor home/recreational vehicle's weight. You can view the DMV's Fee Schedule for specific fees based on vehicle weight.Other Topics in This Section
