Registration Renewals

Renew Online or Close to Home
You can renew your vehicle registration online, at your local messenger service, or at any Driver and Vehicle Service location.
You'll need to provide the following information to complete your renewal:
- License Plate Number
- Title Number
- Valid Insurance Information
- Valid Credit Card
At the end of the transaction, print a receipt and a temporary registration certificate. Keep that with you until your renewal arrives by mail, within the next 10 business days.
Fees
- Renewal: $36
- Replacement: $4.50 (additional cards, $1.50 each)
If you receive Social Security benefits or other retirement income, and your income is less than $19,200, you'll only pay $10. The vehicle must be registered in your name. You can request retired status by completing Form MV-371 and submitting it along with a $10 check or money order and your registration renewal card. To find Form MV-371 visit any notary or any Driver and Vehicle Service Center location.
Acceptable Forms of Payment
You can use a credit or debit card for online transactions; Accepted forms include Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
Fees submitted by mail to PennDOT should be covered with a check or money order made out to PennDOT.

Where's My Registration Renewal Application?
If your registration renewal application fails to appear in your mailbox you can alert PennDOT by submitting an appropriately named Request for Registration/Renewals application. If you're unable to download you can snare this application from any messenger service office or any Driver and Vehicle Service Center location.
Lost or Stolen Registration Cards
Replacing your registration cards in Pennsylvania can be done in person or by mail. You'll need to complete Form MV-44, Application for Duplicate Registration Card. If you apply in person at your local Messenger Service, Notary Public, or Issuing Agent you'll need to present your driver's license or photo ID. If mailing, submit a copy of your license.
The fee for a replacement registration is $4.50; additional cards requested at the same time are $1.50 each.
If your registration cards have been stolen, you'll need to report it to local law enforcement before making application for replacements, then submit a copy of that report with your application.

When to Expect Your Registration in the Mail
You should receive your permanent registration card in the mail within 10 days. If you do not receive it within that time period, you can request a replacement of the original application, with no additional fees.
When you complete the application, (Form MV-44), you'll need to have your statement of non-receipt notarized.
