What is the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's (PennDOT) Dead Beat Parent Law?

In conjunction with the Department of Welfare, PennDOT can suspend any person's driver's license if he or she has:

• Failed to pay child support for over three months.

• Failed to adhere to a custody order.

• Failed to respond to a warrant or subpoena regarding child support situations.

If I have a motorcycle license, do I have to wear a helmet?

If you are over 21 years old and have had a motorcycle license for two or more years or enrolled in a PennDOT-sponsored motorcycle safety class, you are free to choose whether or not to wear a helmet.

Do I have to renew my license for four years?

Only drivers 65 years or older have the option to renew for two or four years. All other drivers must always renew for four years.
