Can I get a personalized plate for my new car?

Does Oklahoma offer antique or classic license plates?

Will I get a reminder notice to renew my tag?

Maybe. The state mails them out, but if you don't receive one you are still required to renew on time. You don't need the renewal notice to renew; just visit your local tag office with your current papers and the appropriate fees and your renewal will be processed.

Do I have to get an emissions test on my car before I can register it?

Emissions testing is not required in Oklahoma. At times, your vehicle may need to be inspected for an odometer reading, but this is not a requirement each time.

How much will I pay to register my new car in Oklahoma?

The state provides a detailed explanation of the excise taxes you'll pay on your vehicle purchase. You'll also need to pay tag and registration fees, so check with your local tag office for the exact amount for your particular make and model.

Some of my friends told me to request the military registration rate since I enlisted. Do I get a discount?

Yes, your registration fee will only be $21. You'll need to complete a U.S. Armed Forces Affidavit and submit it with your application for registration or renewal.

If I move out of state, do I need to surrender my license plates?

No. Recycle them as you see fit in your new state.
