Oklahoma does not have once centralized motor vehicle department. Rather, it is made up of several State agencies working together to provide driver licensing, motor vehicle registration, and road safety to the citizens of Oklahoma.

State Jobs

If you wish to work for the Oklahoma Tax Commission or the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, your job search will begin with a visit to the Oklahoma Office of Personnel Management.

Testing

Most State jobs in Oklahoma will require merit system testing. Once you have completed the application process and are ready for testing, you will be referred to a testing site. The State of Oklahoma strongly supports equal opportunity and diversity in the workplace.

Tag Agency Employment

Oklahoma tag agencies are the local facilities that provide most of the motor vehicle services used by Oklahomans once they have been licensed to drive.

The offices are independently owned by private individuals. Tag agency employees are not government employees and as such as not required to undergo the testing and other pre-employment requirements as a State employee does.

However, this also means that tag agency employees do not share in the benefits packages offered to State employees. Salary and benefits for tag agency employees are determined by the individual agency owner.
