New Vehicle Dealerships

For new vehicle dealerships, a great place to start your research is the Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission. This is the agency that oversees all licensing and regulations pertaining to new motor vehicle sales.

Used Vehicle Dealerships

If you are selling used motor vehicles, the Used Motor Vehicles and Parts Commission is the agency for you. Download forms and get information on rules and regulations concerning the sales of used motor vehicle. You can also subscribe to their newsletter for regular updates.

The Used Motor Vehicles and Parts Commission also covers the wholesale used motor vehicles industry as well as dismantlers, rebuilders, manufactured home dealers, manufactured home manufacturers, and manufactured home installers.

Organizations

The Organized Internet Automobile Dealer's Associates (OIADA) is a group made up of members of the Oklahoma Independent Automobile Dealers Association who are working together to improve and expand their businesses.

The group shares information on legislative updates, designs new forms, publishes a newsletter, and generally keeps its members abreast of new laws, rules, regulations, and requirements as they apply to the used motor vehicle sales industry in Oklahoma.

The dues are $235 per year, and for that you will receive a V.I.P discount card that will entitle you to discounts on vehilce auction fees.

Recent Legislation

Legislation enacted via the Patriot Act and Presidential Executive Order 13224, requires that any new or used automotive dealer report to the Treasury Department attempted vehicle purchases by any person names on this list. Check the list of Specially Designated Nationals before you have completed the sale of a motor vehicle.

If your customer's name appears on the list, you must call the U.S. Treasury Department Hot Line at (800) 540-6322 or use e-hotline system to e-mail them. The Department will then give you further instructions.
