I just bought a pickup in Texas. How do I get an Oklahoma tag?
Just visit your local tag office with the manufacturer's certificate of origin or the current title signed over to you, the Bill of Sale, and proof of insurance. The title and registration process is the same as if you bought the vehicle in OK.
My husband is stationed overseas, and has found a car he'd like to buy to bring home. Can you give me some information on imports?
Sure. First, check out the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website for all the basics of imports, and then check with your local tag office for specifics in your county.
I just bought a new car and would like a special tag. How much do they cost?
Congratulations! The state has a detailed list of special tags and their prices, so check it out. You'll also want to cruise through DMV.ORG's License Plate section for all details on specialty and personalized tags.
Can I get a temporary tag for my car?
Oklahoma does not offer temporary tags. If you buy a vehicle from a dealership, they will affix a paper tag that is valid for 30 days, until you can get the vehicle registered and tagged in your name.
What kinds of taxes will I have to pay when I register my car?

I'm getting ready to sell my car. Do I keep the tag?
No. Oklahoma requires that the tag remain with the vehicle, not the owner.
