Unrestricted

With or without glasses you must have 20/40 vision in at least one eye.

Restricted

You must have a minimum of 20/70 vision in at least one eye.

Top Hearing

You must report any hearing impairment to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Do this by completing a driver license application and dropping it off at any DMV office. You will then be tested to determine whether a restriction needs to be added to your license.

Restrictions

If you require a restricted license, your license will be stamped with the letters "R:F." An explanation of your restrictions will be printed on the back of your license.

The letter "F" indicates that you must drive with a hearing aid, or your vehicle must be equipped with a full-view mirror, or even both.

Top Seizures

In order to drive again following a seizure or blackout, you must:

• Remain "episode free" for 12 months.

• Submit confirmation from your doctor that you are medically fit to drive.

If you experience an "episode" within this 12-month wait-and-see period, you will still be allowed to resume driving if:

• Your doctor provides proof that your seizure or blackout resulted from a medication change.

• Or your doctor believes that your condition won't threaten your driving abilities.

Complete a Request for Driver Review. Make sure it is notarized or it will not be accepted.
