Forms help the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) keep track of a huge amount of information generated by New Hampshire drivers, clerks, law enforcement, and licensed dealers.

Becoming Licensed

Of course, before you are licensed you'll need the proper forms to file your application. The basic application forms you'll need to request starting out include:

  • Utility: Form DSMV 261
  • Wholesale: Form DSMV 264
  • Automotive Recycling: Form DSMV 259
  • Retail Vehicle: Form DSMV 349
  • Repairer: Form DSMV 262
  • Transporter: Form 260

Most dealers apply in person at the DMV Headquarters, but you can initiate the process by mail, too:

  • Department of Safety
  • Division of Motor Vehicles
  • Dealer Desk
  • 33 Hazen Drive
  • Concord, NH 03305

Licensed Dealers

As a licensed dealer, you will need to file forms for activities like vehicle ownership transfers, vehicles substituted for those under repair, and demonstration vehicles.

The dealer registration rules identify at least 12 forms used by applicants and dealers registering for dealer license plates. Unfortunately, not all of these forms are available on the DMV website.

At this point in time, no forms can be filed online―you have to request and mail or hand deliver to the Dealer Desk. During the application process ask questions of the DMV agent who visits your site and also ask the Dealer Desk about forms.

Assuming the forms don't change yearly, you can keep a good stock on hand to keep your business running and in compliance. Once you have completed a few vehicle sales you will be able to fill out the forms and paperwork efficiently and develop a procedure that works for your business.
