Whether you've been caught speeding or been issued a citation for driving under the influence, a Nebraska traffic ticket requires your immediate attention.

Can I Pay My Ticket Online?

You can pay any ticket online, except for parking tickets. Payment options are limited to Visa, MasterCard, or debit card.

If you have questions about the amount you owe, call the clerk of the County Court in which your ticket was issued.

Minimizing the Negative Effects of a Ticket

In certain cases, you may be able to minimize the damage to your driving record after receiving a ticket.

The DMV has certified several third-party driving course providers throughout the state. If you are eligible to attend a course, you can erase two points from your record after completing the class. Find more information about traffic classes in Traffic Tickets on this site.

Can I Protest My Ticket?

If you don't believe you are guilty of the offense, you may choose to protest your traffic ticket. This can be done by making a court appearance to describe your version of the events leading to the citation. However, claiming ignorance of the law or stating that you were unfairly singled out is not likely to get your ticket overturned.

If you are planning to protest your traffic ticket, you should not pay the fine. Nebraska law considers payment of the fine to be the same as an admission of your guilt.

What Happens if I Don't Pay My Traffic Ticket?

If you don't protest your ticket and fail to pay your fine by the assigned due date, your Nebraska driver's license may be suspended. This rule also applies to tickets received during out-of-state travel.

To get your license back, you'll need to prove that you've paid the ticket by providing a Notice of Compliance that is signed by the clerk of the County Court and lists the court case number as well as the date of your payment. In addition, there will be a $50 reinstatement fee.
