North Dakota's registration renewal process is easy and takes no more than five minutes to complete.
Renewal Date
Every vehicle registration in North Dakota expires on December 31. It's an easy date to remember, but sometimes gets lost in the holiday season hoopla.
Realizing this, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) sends out registration renewal reminders about a month prior, giving you enough time to respond before the mind becomes distracted with shopping, baking, and avoiding a distant aunt's fruitcake surprise.
Renewal Process
You can either send the renewal card back with the appropriate fee or renew online.
The advantage of renewing online is that you can do this 24 hours a day and it only takes NDDOT five to seven days to process, as compared to three weeks when you renew by mail. The lone catch is that you must pay by credit or debit card (Visa, Discover, MasterCard).
