The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) employs more than 14,000 people in its 11 divisions. The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is just one place you might consider working.

License and Theft Bureau Employment

The License and Theft Bureau employs law enforcement agents who enforce the laws related to driver license fraud, vehicle inspection fraud, odometer rollback, vehicle theft, and document fraud. They also regulate motor vehicle dealers and manufacturers, inspection and repair stations, and towing and storage facilities.

If you are interested in working for the License and Theft Bureau as a law enforcement agent, there are several requirements you must meet. The minimum requirements are:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Basic Law Enforcement Training certification
  • Five years of law enforcement experience
  • One year of investigative/law enforcement experience
  • Pass a written test
  • Pass a physical fitness test
  • Job and personal background history
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Psychological testing
  • Polygraph
