Most moving violations come with driving points. If you accumulate more than 30 points within a three-year span, your license will be revoked. Attending a defensive driving program will trim your license reinstatement fee by 50%, but it will not reduce or eliminate your driving points.

Tickets issued by Montana's Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Office, and Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Department all must be settled with the Justice Court from the county in which you were fined. If you get ticketed by a local police officer, you must settle your fine with the Municipal Court of that specific city or town. All courts accept cash and checks and some even take credit cards.
