Paying Your Traffic Ticket
You must pay your Mississippi traffic ticket fees to the county in which the law enforcement officer issued you the citation. When you receive a ticket, look closely at the bottom for a court date and a telephone number.
Wait seven to 10 days after receiving your ticket, then call the number given for information on the charges against you and the fees associated with the violation. The agent will also tell you where and when you can pay your ticket. Some counties and cities give you up to 30 days to pay your fine.
Most traffic tickets can be paid in person or by mail. If you get a ticket in a metropolitan area, check with the Justice Court in that county to find out if online options for paying your ticket are available.
If you are paying your ticket by mail, you'll need to submit payment in the form of a money order or cashier's check; personal checks are not acceptable. Be sure to enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a receipt. If you are paying in person, you also have the option to pay cash.
Driving School
Mississippi enacted a new law in 2006, giving drivers the "opportunity of a lifetime." This new law states that drivers may complete a driving school course only once to have traffic tickets purged from their driving records.
If you get a ticket after you complete the course, you are out of luck―those and any subsequent traffic tickets will be assigned to your driving record.
