Replacing a Lost Registration

Head to your town office or city hall to replace a lost registration certificate. You just need to show your driver's license or ID.
The cost is $2 and payment methods vary by town, though municipalities generally accept checks or credit cards.
Replacing a Lost License Plate
If your license plates are lost, damaged, or stolen you will need to fill out a notice of and request for new tags.
Take the form, along with your registration, to your local BMV office.
You also can get replacement tags by mail. Send the application and a copy of your registration to the following address:
- Bureau of Motor Vehicles
- Attention: Lost Plate Clerk
- 29 State House Station
- Augusta, ME 04333-0029
The fee is $5 per plate, or $5.50 with registration stickers.
Replacing a Lost Registration Sticker
The Maine BMV makes it easy to replace a lost registration sticker. You can go to the town office where you registered your vehicle or to any local BMV office.
Just take a copy of your registration and the $.25 per sticker fee.
