Moving Out of State in Maine
Keep Your Maine Driver's License
Keep your Main driver's license until you apply for one in your new state; your new state will collect it at that time.
Return Your Maine License Plate
Once you're settled in your new state, you must return your Maine license plates to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV).
No Registration Refund
The only instance in which the BMV provides a type of registration refund is when you transfer your license plate to another vehicle. Even then, it's not a true refund; you're simply using up the rest of the registration credit.
Because you're moving to another state and won't have another vehicle registered in Maine, there is no registration refund or credit.
