Registration Renewals

Maine makes it easy to renew your vehicle registration. In fact, the state offers to send out e-mail reminders to vehicle owners who ask for them.
The bottom line is that renewing your registration yearly is a necessary task for vehicle owners. If you own a car, you must renew your registration on time or face fines and penalties. Fortunately, Maine makes the process easy.
How to Renew
There are two ways to renew. If you live in a participating city or town, you can renew online with the state's Rapid Renewal service. You must pay by credit card or electronic check. You will need to enter your current registration, insurance information, and mileage.
Once you finish the online renewal process, you can print out a temporary registration that is good for seven days. You will get your new registration and sticker in a week.
Your other option is to go to the town clerk or tax collector and pay the $25 registration fee and excise tax. You get a new sticker to put on your current plates. If you want new plates, it's another $11. Vanity plates cost more.
Additional Registration Information
Of course, renewing your registration isn't the end of the road. DMV.ORG has also outlined how to replace your lost registration, change the name on your registration, and even all related registration fees.
