Unlike many states, Maryland does not permit you to go to a traffic school (or attend a class focused on defensive-driving techniques) and have points (or a traffic violation) taken off your license.

However, you may want to check your local listings for these classes offered in your area, because they still offer drivers an excellent opportunity to refresh or sharpen their safe driving practices, and become more knowledgeable about driving defensively.

Of course, the cost and methods in which you can take the courses are up to each program.

Check with your insurance company to see if you're eligible to receive a discount on your auto insurance by successfully completing a safe or defensive-driving class.
