Drivers in the Military in Kansas

Kansas has several large and active military installations, including Fort Leavenworth, the oldest active army force west of the Mississippi and home of the famous U.S. Disciplinary Barracks; Fort Riley, home of the First Infantry Division (The Big Red One); McConnell Air Force Base, home to the KC-135 Stratotanker, and the renowned School of Advanced Military Studies, located in Fort Leavenworth. Non-resident Active Duty Personnel in Kansas

If you are active duty military on assignment in Kansas, you and your dependants are not required to change your driver's licenses or motor vehicle registrations over to Kansas and away from your home of record. As long as you are on active duty, you will not be considered Kansas residents in matters related to motor vehicle driver's licenses or vehicle registrations.

Download the Kansas Renewal, Extension or Replacement form, complete the applicable entries and send it, along with a check in the amount of $18 and a copy of your military ID card to:

Driver's License Renewals, Kansas Resident Military Dependents

If you are the dependent of an active duty member of the military, and need to renew your Kansas driver's license while stationed out of state, you will need to download and print the Kansas Renewal, Extension or Replacement form, complete the applicable sections, and mail it, along with a copy of your military dependant ID card to:

You will then receive a driver's license renewal packet in the mail.
