Motorcycle Manual in Iowa
Also known as a Class M license, a motorcycle license lets you legally operate your motorcycle on Iowa roads. To add a motorcycle license to your current Iowa driver's license, you must pass a knowledge test and an on-cycle evaluation and pay an additional $2-per-year licensing fee. A motorcycle-only license costs $30 for five years, or $12 for two years if you're under 18 or over 70.

If you prefer, motorcycle manuals are also available at your nearest driver's license station. You can pick up a copy of the manual during regular business hours. No appointment is necessary.
The motorcycle manual covers basic vehicle control, crash avoidance strategies, common mechanical problems, and the importance of proper safety equipment.
