Auto Show, the 2009 VW Jetta TDI took home the gold in the green category. It’s the first diesel to win the title Green Car of the Year. The cool thing about this 41-mpg diesel is that it’s part of a new era of “clean diesels” that started coming out in August. Since then, VW has sold more than 8,000 of these Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) Jettas. Nearly two years ago the EPA required the introduction of ULSDs in an attempt to remove a component of diesel fuel that causes major pollution. And with this win, we are one gargantuan step closer to green driving. Car Enthusiasts Gear Up for LA Auto ShowNext month, car geeks from around the world will flock to the City of Angels for one of the West Coast’s biggest automotive events, the LA Auto Show. Scheduled November 21-30, the show will feature 1,000 of the newest models, futuristic concept cars, the latest in hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles, world and North American debuts, exotic sports and luxury cars, and more accessories and electronics than a car buff can stand. You’ll want to stay close to the action, so book a hotel near the Los Angeles Convention Center soon. GM Recalls Nearly 300,000 Chevrolet HHR VehiclesBeginning in November, GM is recalling 296,422 MY 2006-2008 Chevrolet HHR vehicles due to failed compliance with head-impact protection requirements set by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201. Apparently the door on one of the vehicle's storage bins fails to remain closed which could lead to injury. Therefore, the carmaker is making available a redesigned latch. If you own one of these vehicles, please call Chevrolet at (800) 630-2438 or visit MyGMLink online. Our Goal: Safer Drivers. Shorter Lines. |
