You must have a minimum vision of 20/60, with or without glasses or contacts, and possess a field of vision of at least 140 degrees.

If you fail, submit a vision report that is signed by a vision specialist.

The deaf can own a Georgia driver's license without restrictions.

Top Seizures

To have a driver's license in Georgia, you must be seizure-free for 12 months. If you have no prior history of seizures, your license will not be revoked after one incident.

If you have a history of epilepsy but have not endured a seizure within the last 12 months, have your doctor submit a medical report.

Should you receive a notice of revocation, you can appeal the decision within 15 days. The state will allow you to maintain driving privileges while awaiting your hearing date.

Top Aging Drivers

If you are 64 or older, you cannot renew your license by mail or online. Instead, renew in person in order to submit to a mandatory Department of Driver Services (DDS) vision test.

Top Reporting an Incompetent Driver

If you suspect a person that you know is either too old or not medically fit to be driving a vehicle try to contact, if possible, family members. If you don't know the driver contact the local police department with a description of the car and the license plate number. Don't let guilt prevent you from calling.
