Let's face it: Americans like to find humor in practically everything. Even the most mundane duties of daily life are open to scrutiny and someone's teasing comedy. The everyday act of driving is no different; jokes about driving and drivers have existed ever since the advent of the automobile (and before that it was probably jokes about the buggy driver).

Maybe it's because driving is an ability most adults in the country share today, or maybe it's because we've all made enough silly or just plain stupid mistakes while driving that helps us find the humor in it. Regardless of the reason, it seems most everyone loves a good driving joke.
