DMV Employment
All job openings in Division of Motor Vehicles, which is overseen by the Department of Revenue, are centralized through the main Colorado State Government Web site.
The site lists both classified and non-classified positions. Non-classified simply means that the open positions are not regulated by the state testing processes or personnel rules. You can search employment listings by department (agency), type of work, or job title.
To apply for the majority of openings, you must be a Colorado resident, although the Web site does have listings relevant to out-of-state residents.
If you have the necessary qualifications for an advertised job, follow the application procedures described in the listing. Most likely you will be referred to the Demographic Information Form and Application for Announced Vacancy form. This is generally where all quests for state employment begin.
In order to be considered for any state vacancy you must pass a multiple-choice test (or tests) designed to measure overall merit and performance. Once you get past these basic measures, you may be required to take more job specific testing, or just jump right into the interview process with department supervisors.
The State offers stability, good benefits, and competitive salaries, thus the pool of applicants can be quite large. Patience when applying for a state job is quite the quality to possess, because at times the hiring process can get bogged down in standard bureaucracy.
For more information on jobs with the state you can contact any of the individual agencies.
