New Vehicle Dealers

The Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission (AMVC) oversees the licensing of all types of vehicle dealers, except for used vehicle dealers, which are licensed by the Arkansas State Police.

While the AMVC doesn't have a dealer handbook or manual, both prospective and current dealers will find a great deal of useful information in the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission Rules document. You'll read about rules and procedures concerning advertising, location requirements, off-site sales and displays, hearing guidelines, and fees.

Dealer licensing and regulations often involve complex issues, so those with any lingering questions should address them by contacting the AMVC at:

  • Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission
  • 101 E. Capitol, Suite 212
  • Little Rock, AR, 72201-3826
  • Phone: (501) 682-1428
  • Fax: (501) 682-5573

Used Vehicle Dealers

The Arkansas State Police doesn't have a handbook or manual for used vehicle dealers, but those interested in becoming a used vehicle dealer may direct their questions to the Regulatory Services Division by calling (501) 618-8600.
