    Arkansas Vehicle Code

The government of Arkansas has posted the Arkansas Legal Code on their website. There is so much included in the Transportation Title 27 that a search feature is available.

However, unless you are a trained lawyer or exceptionally good at decoding difficult text, you'll probably have trouble with the vehicle code.

What You'll Find in Title 27―The Vehicle Code

The vehicle code, Title 27, covers all kinds of transportation topics ranging from highway construction to drivers education.

Of specific interest to you may be the rules about motor vehicle equipment, for example:

    • Child passenger rules
    • Lighting and electrical requirements
    • Size and load regulations

If you have an antique vehicle or a custom built car you may want to read the chapters on equipment safety, inspection, and regulations.

The code also covers registration and licensing topics. Both motor vehicle and driver services are part of the larger Department of Finance & Administration. All the policies administered by the DFA originate in Title 27, the Transportation Code.

    Check Your Driver's License Status

Whenever you need or want to check the status of your driver’s license, you can order a driving record report. This record will spell out if your driver’s license is currently valid. Should your license have been revoked or suspended, the report will indicate that according to what’s on record at the OMV. This report will also show points against your license and, in some cases, information on any accidents you have had.
