Do you enjoy working with people, helping others resolve paperwork and bureaucratic issues smoothly and with a smile on your face? Like the idea of assisting fellow Alaskan with the motor vehicle vehicle registrations and titling or working with driving records or compiling various forms and publications? Then a career with the Alaska DMV might be the perfect fit for you.

Where to Begin

The place to start looking for jobs in Alaska is the Workplace Alaska Web site. This site has job listing for all Alaska state government agencies. You may check on a variety of open positions on the main Job Postings Board and check the How to Apply FAQ for all the application information. Applications for open positions may be completed and submitted via the Internet. All of the necessary information regarding each opening is contained in the job posting.

Job Search Tips

Search under Administration for jobs with the Alaska DMV. The Job Boards are divided by the main governmental departments and the DMV is under the department of Administration. It is not easy to find on the many State of Alaska home pages.

Narrow the Search

Once you narrow your search to a specific position at a specific branch of the DMV, click on the job title. This will open a page with the three "application packet" documents for that specific job. Complete this set of documents, then follow the directions on the page to submit your application packet.

The Application Packet

The three documents in the application pack are as follows:

  • Job Qualifications Summary
  • Job Application
  • Applicant Profile

Be sure that all three are completed before you submit your application online.

If you prefer to submit your application package by U.S. mail, simply click on the "printable form" icon at the top of the application packet page and complete the packet the same way you would online.

Closing Dates

Al open positions listed on the Workplace Alaska Job boards will have a closing date listed in the top right-hand corner of the listing. Be sure to check this, as any application packets will not be accepted after the close date. You may, of course, deliver your packet by hand to the State offices, but unless you live in Juneau, that might not be possible.

Where to Apply

Once you have completed the Job Qualification Summary, the Job Application, and the Applicant Profile, you may submit them online through the Workplace Alaska Web site. Or, if you prefer, print the job-specific documents, fill them in by hand and submit them to:

  • Department of Administration
  • Division of Personnel
  • P.O. Box 110201
  • Juneau, AK 99811-0201

Or, you may hand-carry your application before the close date to:

  • State Office Building
  • 10th Floor
  • 333 Willoughby Ave.
  • Juneau, Alaska

More Information

Check this comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions list from the Workplace Alaska Web site, or, if you just need to know more about the applications process, check this How to Apply page from the Workplace Alaska Web site for more specific information on the job application process.

Good Luck!

Best of luck in your job search. We hope you find just the right job match for your talents and your skill set.
